The Holidays can be the most difficult time of the year for the incarcerated and their families.
Most of us are fortunate enough to complain about family during the holiday season. However, many do not have that luxury. With limited visitation rights and restrictions on gift-giving, many cannot have those special moments with their family and friends who are incarcerated. These barriers make the holidays depressing and difficult for everyone involved. It has also been recently found that increased visitation rights and interactions with family and friends decrease the likelihood to re-offend. With more social interactions, the incarcerated are happier and off on a better foot.
